More Rainy Day Links!

Welcome to another Saturday at Saturday Sequins!

Whew! I had a blast at the Bead and Button Show this year. I did so many cool things, met so many cool people, and ate more cheese than anyone should in a week. I can't wait to tell you all about it next Saturday. Thanks to Mr. Sequin's fancy new phone, there are even pictures.

I wish I could share it all right now, but as you read this, I'm actually on my way to Chicago for lunch and cupcakes -- so I'm doing Rainy Day Links instead. I realize I bombarded you all in the last one of these I wrote, so let's see if I can keep this post short(er) and sweet.

From the Archives

Did you know that I've updated and expanded the Bead Embroidery Resources post? Well, I have!

I also celebrated my one year blogiversary.

Eye Candy

Have you seen this gorgeous piece over at StarPerlenShmuck? I love the colors, and I love the wire dangles mixed in with the bead embroidery! Special thanks to Eva Maria Keiser for pointing this out to me.

Tutorials

Laura of Cook On Strike shows us how to make a mannequin display bust! Perfect for jewelry photography -- I really want to give this a try.

I'm so excited about this one... over at Resin Crafts, there's a lesson on combining bottle caps and sequins with resin! I used sequins in a resin class with Susan Lenart Kazmer a few years ago, but I haven't tried bottle caps. I love the look! Special thanks to Cyndi Lavin for bring this link to my attention.

Creativity

A great post from Creativity Post on hobbies as a personal path to creativity. I love any discussion on creativity and the creative process, so I was super psyched to discover this website. Here's another one on 12 things you weren't taught about creativity in school!

Food For Thought

Hannah Kane, a guest poster on Scoutie Girl, talks about cultivating a play ethic!

Music

This one isn't an article or blog post -- it's a link to one of my favorite musicians, Sarah Jarosz. Mr. Sequin and I went to see her in May, and she rocked my world! She also gave me the idea for a series of blog posts, which I'll talk about later.

I hope these links inspire, entertain and inform you while I'm off burying my face in a Boston Cream cupcake. I also hope you've had a wonderful week, whether you went to the show or not.

Thanks for reading, thanks for commenting, and have a sequintastic day!

  1. Oh another Sarah Jarosz lover, she is something else. I can't believe how she plays that mandolin. Mr. Sparkle aka the superhero is a guitar player too. xox

    1. Oh, how cool that you're a Sarah fan, too! If you ever get the chance to see her perform live, you have to do it! It's incredible. :)
